The newly appointed Deputy Inspector General, Kenya Police Service Eliud Kipkoech Lagat and Deputy Inspector General, Administration Police Service Gilbert Masengeli this afternoon took an oath of office in a ceremony presided over by Chief Justice and the President of the Supreme Court of Kenya Hon. Martha Koome at the Supreme Court of Kenya. National Police Service Commission Chairperson Eliud Kinuthia, CBS expressed confidence on the appointees calling on them to embark on a plan to boost the morale of police officers. Mr. Kinuthia said; serving at the apex as Deputy Inspector General of police requires a high commitment to service and implementing decisions that will reform the service to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
The Inspector General of Police nominee, Douglas Kanja congratulated the new Deputy Inspector Generals’ calling on them to embrace all stakeholders in executing their mandate.
On her part, Chief Justice Hon. Martha Koome said the appointment comes at both an exciting and challenging period in the Criminal Justice System occasioned by the recent Finance Bill protests in the Country. However, she commended the collaborative approach between the police and the judiciary calling for more initiatives to ensure efficiency in the administration of justice.
The ceremony was attended by Vice- chairperson NPSC Dr. Alice Otwala, Commissioners John Ole Moyaki, Dr. Lilian Kiamba, Edwin Cheluget, Commission Secretary /CEO Peter Leley, Senior Government officials and various dignitaries.
